Register for Kindergarten 2018
Starting Kindergarten is an exciting time - for both children and parents. A positive learning experience at this early age will help give your child the skills and confidence to become an enthusiastic lifelong learner.
Griffiths-Scott School Kindergarten application packages are now available.
If you have a child who is eligible to attend kindergarten this fall (5 years old on or before December 31, 2018) now is the time to pick up a “getting ready for kindergarten” package.
Packages are available at the Griffiths - Scott School Office or from Division Office 5515-47A Avenue in Wetaskiwin.
Complete the forms enclosed in the package and return them to the school on kindergarten registration night on March 3, 2018, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm or at the school office 780-387-4101.

Alberta Education recommends a learning center approach, which best meets the developmental needs of each child. A center is an area of the classroom in which materials are set out for the children to interact with.
At Griffiths-Scott School we focus on providing a playful learning environment through exploration centers and large and small group activities.
Centers are designed to:
- develop self-confidence
- improve physical skills
- develop use of all senses
- promote co-operation with others
- provide experiences with many developing skills
- expand vocabulary and interest in books and numbers
IN ADDITION TO CENTERS
The Kindergarten Program may include large group activities such as:
- Discussion related to theme
- Sharing time
- Physical Education
- Drama/Creative Movement
- Fieldtrips related to the theme
- Guest speakers and/or special presentations
- Snack Time
- Library time
- Media Presentations i.e. Videos, Computers
- Special projects (crafts, cooking, etc.)
